Update on Zip the Steer

My family wrote to say that although Zip "done real good" at the Fair, he didn't win any prizes.

Adios Zip

Interesting.

A pal in High School, every year had a cow. A new one. Each year.

I didn't think much about it - until I realized that each cow, each year, had the same name.

Hamburger.

You people are sick! How can you something that you gave a name to? That would be like me eating my dog Poochie.

Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick!!!

Anyway, that's not what meat looks like. Meat is red and comes in a plastic wrapped styrofoam container from god.

I remember as a kid visiting my grandparents and announcing to the table that we were eating Dana. I enjoyed this fact because Dana was not a nice cow. Buttercup had passed away while giving birth to twins. Grampa had to keep the twins seperate because Dana bullied them. I guess I felt bad for the orphaned calves and thought that Dana got what she deserved. The rest of the people at the table didn't seem to appreciate this like I did and were annoyed at being reminded that their steak used to have a name.

Ah, well, there you go. Folks that weren't raised on a farm don't relize that there aren't no such thing as pets. Eat up and pass the katchup, Kel. Zip's good eatin'.
